About the position
The Maintenance Assistant at Peppermint Ridge is responsible for the repair and maintenance of residential homes and administrative buildings, ensuring compliance with public law and state regulations. This full-time position involves a variety of tasks including plumbing, electrical repairs, carpentry, and general upkeep of facilities, all under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Immediately responds to the Maintenance Supervisor for daily responsibilities.
- Completes daily maintenance work and repairs in a timely manner.
- Regularly reports to Maintenance Supervisor or lead staff regarding progress on tasks.
- Performs routine preventive maintenance tasks such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical repairs.
- Repairs home fixtures including lights, locks, windows, doors, screens, walls, floors, gutters, and drains.
- Assists in plumbing tasks such as valve repairs, pipe installation, and sprinkler systems.
- Helps with the repair or replacement of electrical fixtures and changing light bulbs.
- Assists in the repair or replacement of electric motors as required.
- Assists in the design, construction, or repair of basic wood projects.
- Cares for and maintains all types of floors using appropriate equipment.
- Assists in landscaping and gardening tasks for homes.
- Performs preventive maintenance on all equipment as required.
- Moves furniture and equipment, lifting up to 50 pounds with proper techniques.
- Loads and unloads items into and out of trucks and trailers.
- Cleans assigned areas and assists with special event setups.
- Maintains required logs and records.
- Attends monthly in-service training as required.
Requirements
- Janitorial experience
- Basic computer operation skills
- Ability to communicate in English
- Valid Driver's License
