About the position

The Maintenance Controller at Hawaiian Airlines is responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations of aircraft, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and providing technical support to flight crews. This role involves continuous analysis of maintenance discrepancies, coordination of maintenance activities, and communication with various stakeholders to ensure the safety and efficiency of flight operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily 24-hour continuing analysis and surveillance of MEL/CDL items, deferred items, and maintenance discrepancies for all aircraft in service.
  • Determine that inoperative systems or components do not diminish flight safety or increase crew workload.
  • Enter all MEL/CDL items into the computer system.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities on aircraft delayed at line stations.
  • Communicate with HAL flight crews, line maintenance personnel, and outside maintenance contractors.
  • Provide flight crews with technical assistance and MEL/CDL release authority via telephone, radio, or electronic data transmission.
  • Monitor the status of the Fly Away Kit (FAK) and coordinate with SOCC to ensure the proper FAK is on board the aircraft.
  • Notify specific individuals of accidents/incidents, in-flight engine shutdowns, aircraft damage, and in-flight emergencies that result in delays or cancellations.
  • Report and document all maintenance advisories and maintain required logs and reports.
  • Review log pages from aircraft involved in incidents to ensure corrective actions are documented and corrected according to HAL GMM and FARs.
  • Coordinate unscheduled maintenance actions and assist in troubleshooting.
  • Provide training on processes and procedures to new hires and TMD Maintenance Controllers.
  • Act as a liaison between maintenance and HAL engineering during off-hour operations.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must possess FAA Airframe and Powerplant licenses.
  • Must have 5 years of experience in aircraft maintenance on Boeing and/or Airbus passenger aircraft.
  • Must have formal and informal systems training and actual line experience with Boeing and/or Airbus passenger aircraft, engines, electrical and avionics systems.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office.
  • Must be willing and able to travel to sites in support of HAL operations.
  • Must have the ability to provide innovative solutions to problem solving in Maintenance Operations Control.
  • Proficient use of the AMM, IPC, WD, TSM, FIM.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays as required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in a maintenance control position preferred.
  • 5 years Line Maintenance experience preferred.
  • Previous experience with Hawaiian Airline's in-service aircraft preferred.
  • Two years of college education preferred.
  • Knowledgeable on ETOPS program and ETOPS Significant systems.
  • Be knowledgeable in computer programs such as TRAX, MyBoeingFleet, and Airbus World.
  • Experience with Boeing 717, 787, A321, A330 aircraft.
