About the position

The Maintenance/Custodian III position at Lincoln County Campus involves performing routine cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for students, faculty, and visitors. This role requires a commitment to providing quality custodial and maintenance services in a professional, helpful, and courteous manner. The individual will monitor and maintain equipment, furniture, and buildings, ensuring that all areas are clean and well-maintained. Responsibilities include hard floor maintenance, carpet care, and the cleaning of various facilities such as offices, classrooms, and restrooms. The custodian will also be responsible for stocking and refilling dispensers, emptying trash, and replacing light bulbs or other fixture items as needed. In addition to cleaning duties, the Maintenance/Custodian III will perform snow and ice removal, mowing, and general campus grounds maintenance. The role requires troubleshooting and performing routine scheduled maintenance and basic repairs to electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. The custodian will also lead or assist in construction, alteration, preparation, painting, and repair tasks as necessary. Operating college vehicles safely and maintaining a clean driving record is essential, as is the ability to operate a variety of tools and equipment skillfully and safely. The position also involves responding to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service, creating a collaborative environment with colleagues, and actively participating in continuous improvement efforts. The custodian will provide campus security and safety services, ensuring the security of facilities by locking and unlocking buildings as required. Effective communication and timely sharing of information are crucial to the success of this role, as is the ability to perform other duties as assigned to contribute to the Lincoln County Campus team.

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality custodial and maintenance service in a professional, helpful and courteous manner
  • Monitors and maintains equipment, furniture, and buildings
  • Performs hard floor maintenance including cleaning, stripping, and waxing; performs carpet care including shampooing and vacuuming
  • Moves and sets up furniture, equipment, technology, or fixtures
  • Cleans offices, classrooms, restrooms, and other areas; stocks and refills dispensers; empties trash; and replaces light bulbs or other fixture items
  • Maintains and stocks area with appropriate inventory of custodial, facility, and equipment supplies
  • Performs snow and ice removal, mowing, and campus grounds maintenance from designated areas
  • Troubleshoots, performs routine scheduled maintenance and basic repairs to electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation systems, air conditioning systems, and equipment
  • Repairs and maintains commercial lockable hardware
  • Leads or assists in the construction, alteration, preparation, painting, and repair to structures
  • Operates college vehicles in a safe and lawful manner; maintains clean driving record; maintains appropriate service and repair of vehicles
  • Operates and uses a broad spectrum of tools and equipment skillfully and safely
  • Responds to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service
  • Creates and maintains a collaborative and collegial environment with colleagues and maintains effective working relationships
  • Works collaboratively and actively participates in a climate that promotes and supports innovation and improved services to students, faculty, and the community

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in multiple trade areas
  • Current Montana driver's license upon employment
