About the position

The Maintenance Custodian at the JCC of Mid-Westchester is responsible for the daily maintenance and repair of the 77,000 sq ft campus. This role involves a variety of tasks including custodial duties, building maintenance, and groundskeeping, all aimed at ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for community activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day maintenance and repair tasks including painting, plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry.
• Assist with HVAC system oversight and complete regular building checks.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on appropriate systems and equipment.
• Use a variety of hand tools and equipment for maintenance tasks.
• Engage in landscaping activities such as shoveling, digging, raking, and spreading mulch.
• Read blueprints and measure distances for maintenance projects.
• Follow written and oral instructions and procedures for maintenance tasks.

Requirements

• General knowledge of tools, methods, and materials used in building maintenance work.
• Experience in school or pool maintenance is a plus.
• Ability to use hand tools and equipment effectively.
• Capability to measure distances and calculate quantities accurately.
• Physical ability to walk, stand, and move about for eight or more hours per day, including climbing ladders and lifting up to 40 pounds.
