About the position

The Maintenance/Custodian Worker at COOL Church is responsible for providing routine maintenance and janitorial support services for the church facilities. This part-time role involves performing preventive maintenance tasks, cleaning, and ensuring the safety and functionality of the building and its equipment. The position requires flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provides routine maintenance services for the building, equipment, and property.
• Performs minor preventive maintenance tasks for buildings, equipment, and property.
• Provides janitorial support services to staff.
• Cleans and performs preventative maintenance on equipment, tools, and the building.
• Removes trash by emptying trash containers and transporting materials to disposal areas.
• Cleans and resupplies all restrooms.
• Sets up and breaks down equipment and furniture for functions when required.
• Services and reports mechanical malfunctions if they cannot be repaired.
• Reports and removes any possible safety hazards.
• Reports any unauthorized persons on the premises.
• Maintains building interior by dusting and polishing furniture, equipment, mirrors, and fixtures.
• Washes windows, counters, walls, and woodwork, and makes minor repairs to the structure.
• Sweeps, scrubs floors, and vacuums carpeting.
• Performs general cleaning and disinfecting using approved solvents and appropriate tools.
• Responsible for painting, minor plumbing repairs, minor electrical repairs, and other routine maintenance needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Relevant experience in a similar position is preferred.
• Working knowledge of all building systems, including HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing.
• Ability to diagnose trouble issues and make minor repairs.
• Knowledge of the proper use and disposal of hazardous materials and safe handling techniques as outlined by OSHA.
• Repair skills for minor equipment used inside or outside.
• Self-motivated and prompt in performing tasks.
• Must successfully pass a background screening.
