About the position

As the Maintenance Director for G&P West Operations at Marathon Petroleum Corporation, you will play a pivotal role in leading multiple geographically dispersed teams to identify, plan, schedule, and perform maintenance activities. Your leadership will support our mission of ensuring safe, compliant, reliable, and cost-effective operations. You will establish a clear vision and expectations for the implementation of a standardized Maintenance Management work process, driving performance through key performance indicators and a continuous improvement mindset. In this role, you will partner with leadership in the Reliability and Engineering organizations to ensure that equipment is consistently classified according to pre-established Equipment Criticality definitions. This classification is essential for driving the appropriate maintenance, inspection, and testing scope and intervals. You will be accountable for setting the overall maintenance organization strategy for the region, developing area-specific repair and maintenance budgets aligned with that strategy. Additionally, you will secure the necessary fixed and variable resources to support the regional maintenance strategy and desired performance levels. This will involve benchmarking data to capture resourcing efficiencies over time. You will also ensure that maintenance employees actively participate in capital project design, construction, functional check-out, and commissioning activities to assure operability and maintainability throughout the full asset life cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Leads multiple geographically dispersed teams in identifying, planning, scheduling and performing maintenance activities.
  • Establishes the vision and clear expectations around the implementation of a standardized Maintenance Management work process.
  • Drives performance through the use of key performance indicators and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Partners with leadership in the Reliability and Engineering organizations to ensure proper equipment classification.
  • Sets the overall maintenance organization strategy for the region and develops area-specific repair and maintenance budgets.
  • Secures appropriate levels of fixed and variable resources to support the regional maintenance strategy.
  • Ensures maintenance employees participate in capital project design, construction, functional check-out and commissioning activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Ten (10) years of leadership experience required, preferably in a mid-size organization with geographical diversity.
  • Ten (10) years of work experience in the energy industry or peripheral crafts.
  • Prior experience managing exempt and non-exempt personnel accountable for mechanical maintenance, and/or instrumentation/electrical.
  • Experience in both natural gas and crude oil gathering/processing/transportation strongly preferred.
