About the position
The Maintenance Director is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair operations of the facility, ensuring that all systems are functioning properly and that the environment is safe and secure for residents and staff. This role involves managing a team, performing hands-on maintenance tasks, and maintaining documentation of all work performed. The Director will also be responsible for budgeting, inventory management, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance duties and routine preventative maintenance in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and miscellaneous skills.
- Complete all work orders on a timely basis and maintain clear documentation of all work requested and completed.
- Ensure the security of the facility and its occupants by performing routine checks and reporting suspicious activity.
- Order and maintain inventory, create and maintain a budget, and oversee complete maintenance functions throughout the building.
- Perform grounds-keeping duties including snow removal, sanding, salting, lawn care, and weeding.
- Interview, hire, train, and supervise housekeeping staff, ensuring they have the necessary tools and cleaning products.
- Assist in other departments as needed to ensure residents' needs are met and quality of care is maintained.
- Attend all staff meetings and in-services.
Requirements
- Minimum of three years recent experience in a facility of comparable size is preferred.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and work well without constant direction.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, walk, stand, and stoop for extended periods of time.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in supervising maintenance and housekeeping staff.
- Valid Driver's License.
