About the position

The Maintenance Electrician position at Kerry involves ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems within the Norwich, NY facility. This role is critical in maintaining equipment functionality and supporting the production of proteins, lactose, coatings, and flavors. The electrician will work collaboratively with a team, adhering to safety regulations and maintaining a clean work environment while performing various maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Work together as a team to accomplish each job safely and in a timely manner.
  • Follow all plant rules, procedures and safety regulations including personal protective equipment.
  • Keep work area safe, clean, and orderly following GMP procedures.
  • Report and/or correct all conditions that may affect the safe, efficient operation of equipment.
  • Use computerized systems for work order and part management.
  • Read and use service manuals, equipment drawings, and schematics.
  • Operate forklift truck safely and use proper safety measures (with training).
  • Familiar with the safe and proper use of all basic hand tools.
  • Work at heights as required.
  • Attend and complete various internal trainings and seminars as requested.
  • Perform overtime and call-ins as required to complete jobs or address equipment breakdowns.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of Industrial & Electrical Maintenance experience.
  • Ability to work safely with electricity at various voltages used throughout the plant.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
  • Advanced skills installing and troubleshooting electrical circuits and equipment.
  • Advanced skills with 480V electrical including single and 3 phase motors and VFDs.
  • Ability to work on and troubleshoot PLCs.
  • Experience with process control instrumentation and mechanical power transmission.
  • Experience working on piping systems including steam, water and chemical.
  • Experience working on liquid processing equipment such as pumps, valves, filter presses, heat exchangers, evaporators, and spray dryers.
  • Knowledge of boilers, compressed air, HVAC, water distribution systems, waste-water treatment, and fire protection equipment/systems (with training).
  • Documentation experience using a CMMS such as SAP or similar.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in electrical field is required.
  • Experience working in food/beverage industry is highly preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced troubleshooting of electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations in food production environments.
