About the position

The Maintenance/Engineering Manager is responsible for directing and overseeing engineering management functions within the organization. This role focuses on establishing and administering effective engineering policies and procedures to ensure that product designs meet customer requirements. The manager will support production and quality control departments by improving processes and providing outstanding engineering customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee Engineering Management functions.
  • Establish and administer sound Engineering policies and procedures.
  • Support Production & Quality Control departments with improved processes and efficiencies.
  • Participate with Sales Department on new product launches or engineering changes.
  • Assist in cost estimating as needed.
  • Coordinate and champion new launch programs and chair 'APQP' meetings.
  • Develop and implement aids to assist the Quality Department in creating an 'error free' production environment.
  • Provide control and timely implementation of Control Plans and FMEAs.
  • Design and document all fixtures and gauges, and process drawings.
  • Promote proper engineering attitudes among employees to establish sound engineering standards.
  • Deal directly with other staff management of the Production group.
  • Handle customer issues that cannot be resolved at the Plant level.
  • Recommend modifications and purchases of equipment to maintain engineering integrity.
  • Coordinate Engineering activities and provide guidance to Production & Quality Managers.
  • Develop a communication network with staff functions and Plant Managers.
  • Train, direct, develop, supervise, and evaluate Engineering/Maintenance staff.
  • Develop cost control methods within the Engineering/Maintenance function.
  • Prepare and present departmental budgets.
  • Provide strategic planning and submit timely Engineering/Maintenance plans.
  • Recommend improvements and changes at the facility.
  • Perform special assignments as delegated.

Requirements

  • College degree in Engineering.
  • 10 or more years of experience in the automotive or manufacturing field.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing engineering processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of best engineering practices in automotive production facilities.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.
