About the position

The Maintenance & Facility Manager at West Ohio UMC will play a crucial role in the re-launch of programming at Camp Wesley, ensuring a safe and positive experience for guests and campers. This position involves overseeing maintenance and upkeep during a significant remodeling phase, coordinating volunteer work, and managing the overall maintenance of the camp's facilities, vehicles, and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an annualized maintenance management system for efficient upkeep of buildings, grounds, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Ensure the grounds are safe, well-maintained, and aesthetically pleasing, including mowing, tree-trimming, and snow removal.
  • Maintain all buildings and camp structures for guest comfort and safety, including repair and maintenance of guest rooms and public spaces.
  • Ensure all camp vehicles and equipment are well-maintained and stored safely.
  • Meet or exceed American Camp Association (ACA) accreditation standards and government safety standards.
  • Train, supervise, and coordinate staff and volunteers in maintenance and improvement tasks.
  • Manage the annual maintenance budget, monitoring expenditures and keeping records.
  • Serve within the ministry context, including welcoming groups and assisting with meal preparation.
  • Share on-call duties for facility and guest group emergencies.
  • Assist in special tasks and projects as requested by the Camp Director.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in maintenance, grounds, mechanics, and/or building trades.
  • Strong organizational skills and self-motivation.
  • Computer skills for submitting administrative reports.
  • Personable and collaborative approach to work.
  • Willingness to live close to the grounds and be on call for guest needs.
  • Commitment to the Christian faith and desire to serve in a ministry setting.
  • Current vaccination records and clear BCI/FBI background check.

  • Experience in hiring, training, and supervising staff.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
  • Proficiency in the safe use of power equipment and tools.
