The Maintenance/Groundskeeper I position at Palo Verde College involves performing essential cleaning and minor maintenance work within the college's buildings and grounds. Under the supervision of the Maintenance, Custodial, and Grounds Supervisor, the employee will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the college's facilities and outdoor areas. This role requires the use of proper methods, materials, and equipment to ensure that all tasks are completed effectively and efficiently. The work is moderately heavy and includes a variety of responsibilities that contribute to the overall maintenance of the college's environment. The duties of the Maintenance/Groundskeeper I include keeping the exterior of buildings and sidewalks clean and painted, stripping and waxing floors in classrooms and other facilities, and assembling and disassembling new furniture. The employee will also be responsible for maintaining all campus equipment, attending required training sessions, and setting up furniture and facilities as needed. Additionally, the role involves performing semi-skilled maintenance repairs on buildings, fixtures, and equipment, as well as caring for the college's landscaping, which includes planting, cultivating, and maintaining trees, shrubs, and lawns. This position requires the operation of various grounds maintenance equipment, such as power mowers, edgers, and trimmers. The employee must be prepared for occasional heavy lifting and working at heights, such as when washing windows or trimming trees. The Maintenance/Groundskeeper I will also assist with shipping and receiving college products and materials, fill out necessary paperwork, and cover for janitorial staff in their absence.
