About the position

The Maintenance Group Supervisor at JFK Airport is a front-line supervisory role responsible for overseeing various crafts, including carpentry, painting, and locksmithing. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the airport operates safely and efficiently by managing a team of skilled and entry-level crafts persons. The supervisor will plan, implement, and coordinate work schedules while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and labor agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the attendance and disciplinary requirements of staff according to union agreements and agency policy.
  • Oversee the activities of maintenance personnel and the care of maintenance equipment.
  • Execute workload as established in the Maximo system and as directed by the unit head.
  • Provide status reports as needed.
  • Participate in the snow removal plan and maintain training records for personnel.
  • Instill safe work habits and demonstrate good judgment and decisiveness.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of full-time, paid maintenance work experience.
  • One (1) year of paid full-time supervisory experience.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Qualified on a Port Authority Entry-Level Assessment (ESA) test.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and understand NYC building code compliance.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, Access.
  • Ability to learn and administer union contract agreements.
  • Knowledge of FAR 139 Regulations regarding maintenance airfield operations.
