About the position
The Maintenance Intern I position at Freeport-McMoRan is a part-time internship designed for students pursuing a degree while gaining hands-on experience in mine maintenance. This two-year program combines classroom training with practical on-the-job training, aimed at developing interns into skilled employees in the mining industry.
Responsibilities
- Participate in classroom training
- Perform routine maintenance activities on processing equipment
- Assist Journeyman Mechanics with maintenance activities
- Perform other tasks as assigned
Requirements
- Must have graduated from an accredited high school or received an equivalency certificate or GED
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
- Must have passed the math qualifying test
- Must have completed academic and practical competencies required
- Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while passing a written assessment
- Ability to communicate in English regarding classroom work, job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
Nice-to-haves
- Currently enrolled at Yavapai Community College
- Must meet all prerequisites and minimal assessment scores as required
