About the position

The Maintenance/Landscape Associate at Trail West Lodge is responsible for maintaining the property and landscape to create a welcoming environment for guests and staff. This entry-level position focuses on landscaping, preventative maintenance, and ensuring that the facilities are in top condition for various programs and events. The role emphasizes spiritual growth, community building, and excellent service, aligning with Young Life's mission to introduce individuals to Jesus Christ.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and execute landscape maintenance on a daily basis to keep the property in top condition.
• Develop and execute a preventative maintenance program for the landscape in coordination with the Site and Facilities superintendent.
• Assist in the development and construction of the property, including creating planting beds and landscaping around buildings.
• Respond to urgent and unscheduled needs of guests and operational emergencies.
• Maintain all aspects of the irrigation system and install new irrigation areas as needed.
• Maintain the turf, fields, shrubbery, flowers, and all other landscape on the property.
• Maintain shop areas in a well-organized manner with regular cleaning schedules; repair and maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
• Maintain a list of maintenance projects and capital projects to be undertaken as time and money become available; communicate needs to the Site and Facilities superintendent for budgeting and scheduling.
• Cooperate with other property staff and subcontractors to ensure tasks are performed up to standards and in harmony with camp operations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
• Ability to train and lead teams.
• Positive, flexible attitude and willingness to learn.
• Physically able to perform the work required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in landscape maintenance or related field.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems and landscape design.
