About The Position

As a Maintenance Manager at Equity Residential, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our properties. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve partnering closely with the Community and Property Manager to cultivate a high-performing maintenance team. You will be responsible for ensuring that your team adheres to Equity standards while assisting them with their tasks as needed. This includes analyzing the financial performance of the property and helping to perform scheduled maintenance, all while providing regular status reports to management. In this role, you will be expected to partner with the Community Manager to achieve property objectives, ensuring that your team handles resident service requests promptly and safely. You will assist your team in performing various maintenance tasks and preparing market-ready apartments. Additionally, you will analyze property management system data and provide recommendations for addressing any financial concerns. Collaborating with the Property Manager on capital improvements and overseeing inventory control will also be key aspects of your job. You will be responsible for performing scheduled maintenance and preparing status reports to keep management informed of the property's condition and needs. To thrive in this position, you will need hands-on maintenance experience in areas such as plumbing, electrical work, appliance repair, and HVAC systems. Experience in residential or commercial property management, hospitality, or retail is also essential. You will be required to have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and a good driving record, as the role involves driving between multiple sites. Strong computer literacy and effective communication skills in English, both orally and in writing, are necessary for all work-related purposes. Knowledge of federal and state apartment housing laws is also important. You must be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, and be able to respond to emergencies after normal business hours when assigned on-call responsibilities.
