About the position

The Maintenance Manager position at Atlas Air is a critical role responsible for overseeing all aspects of line maintenance at assigned station(s). This position requires a strong focus on ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance of company aircraft, adhering to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. The Maintenance Manager will supervise Technical Representatives and Line Maintenance Supervisors, coordinating personnel schedules to ensure adequate manpower coverage for aircraft maintenance operations. In this role, the Maintenance Manager will be tasked with managing and providing oversight for contract line maintenance, ensuring that all personnel under their supervision are trained and qualified according to GMM policies and procedures. The manager will monitor the training, qualifications, and proficiency levels of maintenance personnel, ensuring that they are well-equipped to handle the demands of the job. Additionally, the Maintenance Manager will be responsible for monitoring flight schedules and fleet status to optimize resource use, ground time, and aircraft routing. The position also involves maintaining communication with various departments, including MCC, Workload Planning, Materials, Quality Control, and A/C Planning, to coordinate line maintenance requirements effectively. The Maintenance Manager will provide resources and technical support during major mechanical issues or AOG situations, aiming to improve efficiency and reliability by identifying recurring problems and recommending procedural changes. Furthermore, the manager will ensure timely repairs of deferred maintenance items and oversee the accurate documentation of maintenance log pages. The role requires the Maintenance Manager to enforce safety procedures and practices, perform self-audits, and manage the budget for their assigned station(s). The position may also involve light travel to meet business needs and requires the manager to fly on company aircraft as necessary to support operations globally.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises Technical Representative(s) and/or Line Maintenance Supervisor(s) as assigned.
  • Coordinates personnel schedules to provide adequate manpower coverage for aircraft maintenance operations.
  • Ensures the safe and efficient maintenance of company aircraft in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Manages and provides oversight for contract line maintenance in assigned station(s).
  • Monitors training, qualifications, and proficiency levels of maintenance personnel.
  • Monitors flight schedules and fleet status to optimize resource use and aircraft routing.
  • Coordinates line maintenance requirements with various departments including MCC and Quality Control.
  • Maintains surveillance of line maintenance activity at assigned station(s).
  • Provides resources and technical support during major mechanical problems or AOG situations.
  • Identifies recurring problems and recommends changes in procedures to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Coordinates timely repair of deferred maintenance items on aircraft.
  • Ensures shift turnover and work interruption procedures are followed for maintenance work.
  • Ensures timely return of accurate aircraft maintenance log pages to headquarters.
  • Coordinates with MCC for maintenance and aircraft status information.
  • Monitors mechanical problems and performance programs.
  • Formulates corrective action plans for mechanical problems in coordination with MCC.
  • Maintains communication with Regional Manager for cost-effective operations.
  • Ensures timely entry of log page discrepancies and parts changes in TRAX.
  • Ensures personnel are trained in the use of the TRAX system.
  • Monitors line station spare engine status and engine change kits.
  • Maintains liaison with Ground Operations and Flight Operations for safe operations.
  • Enforces safety procedures and practices outlined in company manuals.
  • Performs duties at field locations away from home base as assigned.
  • Flies on company aircraft as assigned to support operations.
  • Performs self-audits of station(s) as needed.
  • Develops and manages station(s) budget(s).
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must hold a current and valid FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings.
  • Minimum of 7 years in aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Must maintain Atlas Air qualification and authorization for Airworthiness Release.
  • Experience on 747/767 aircraft or equivalent wide body aircraft preferred.
