About the position

The Maintenance Manager at Brookdale Shawnee is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair operations of the community, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves managing maintenance staff, coordinating repair requests, and maintaining the overall safety and functionality of the facilities. Responsibilities

  • Manages associates responsible for general operating maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds.
  • Supervises community maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Directs workers engaged in maintenance and upkeep of the community's interior and exterior.
  • Inspects completed work for conformance to standards and policies.
  • Oversees scheduled maintenance on HVAC, elevator, fire and sprinkler equipment, generator, landscape, kitchen equipment, and emergency pull cord equipment.
  • Coordinates maintenance requests from residents for repairs in their rooms, including plumbing, electrical, and heating.
  • Oversees repairs and maintenance of vacated rooms in a timely manner, including painting and cleaning carpets.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of common areas, including walls, floor coverings, doors, and woodwork.
  • Maintains communication with local fire marshals, building inspectors, and other governing jurisdictions.
  • Assesses plumbing and electrical problems and determines corrective actions.
  • Reviews safety data sheets for hazardous chemicals and takes necessary precautions.
  • Assesses property damage and files claims according to company policy.
  • Responds to resident or community emergencies as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2-3 years of related experience and/or training in maintenance management.
  • Valid State Driver's License required for vehicle travel.
