About the position

This full-time position is responsible for various construction and general labor tasks, including carpentry, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and other construction needs as assigned. The role involves completing work orders for the repair and improvement of facilities, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and maintaining tools and equipment. The position reports to the Maintenance Manager 1 and requires effective communication and a solid understanding of construction practices.

Responsibilities

• Complete work orders in the repair and improvement of facilities.
• Perform general carpentry work including framing walls, hanging drywall, and building shelves.
• Perform locksmith tasks such as repairing locks and installing new door equipment.
• Respond to building safety concerns related to construction.
• Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and repaired.
• Maintain cleanliness of facilities during the construction process.
• Follow safety protocols and notify supervisors of any problems or emergencies.
• Display knowledge of blueprints and specifications.
• Ensure construction documentation and schematics are correct and maintained.
• Perform other assigned tasks.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of all aspects of construction repair and service.
• Ability to troubleshoot problems and take appropriate action.
• Knowledge of standard principles, methods, practices, techniques, tools, and equipment used in construction and repair.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC equipment.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to lift drywall, framing material, five-gallon paint pails, and concrete mix sacks.
• Two years of hands-on general construction experience.
