About the position

The Maintenance Mechanic 1st Class at WIN Waste Innovations is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, cleaning, inspecting, and maintenance of mechanical equipment throughout the facility. This role requires a proactive approach to ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment, responding to emergency repairs, and performing preventative maintenance activities. The mechanic will also operate various mobile equipment and participate in safety and environmental compliance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates and completes work-orders and requisitions, documenting all critical information routinely.
  • Uses Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software (Tabware) proficiently.
  • Available for scheduled and unscheduled overtime, and on-call for emergency repairs.
  • Troubleshoots mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, diagnosing problems and making necessary repairs.
  • Operates mobile equipment including industrial forklifts, manlifts, and skid steer loaders.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and routine repairs around facility grounds.
  • Identifies and repairs potential safety hazards.
  • Communicates effectively via radio using three-part communication.
  • Participates in operations functions, including internal equipment inspections and cleaning work areas.
  • Uses machine shop equipment such as bandsaws and drill presses.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in various welding practices and the use of hand and power tools.
  • Leads small projects as assigned by supervisors.
  • Maintains compliance with safety and environmental procedures, reporting hazards immediately.
  • Completes required training programs within prescribed time frames.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 4-6 years of mechanical background or experience in a construction-type environment.
  • Proficient in welding practices including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, Brazing, and Soldering processes.
  • Ability to read and record measurements with precision.
  • Licenses as required by Local, State, Federal, Environmental and/or Health/Safety Regulatory agencies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Technical schooling experience.
  • Proficient with Oxy-Acetylene and Plasma torch usage.
