About the position

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for repairing, installing, and performing preventive maintenance on all production equipment to ensure optimal operable condition. This role requires a combination of electrical and mechanical expertise to troubleshoot and maintain various types of equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and food safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Repairs, installs, and performs preventive maintenance on all production equipment.
• Troubleshoots and repairs A/C and D/C electrical equipment.
• Installs and maintains mechanical equipment as directed.
• Inspects machines and completes required reports and paperwork.
• Monitors compliance with food safety program requirements.
• Reads and installs semi-complex electrical circuits from wiring diagrams.
• Diagnoses and determines when parts need replacement or repairs.
• Dismantles, repairs, and reassembles gearboxes, fans, conveyors, and other mechanical equipment.
• Installs and repairs electrical conduit, cables, and tubing as directed.
• Maintains spare parts inventory and assists in parts ordering.
• Trains less experienced employees as required.
• Completes work orders and assigned tasks as directed by supervisor.
• Cleans and preserves repaired equipment as directed.
• Follows company policies to ensure compliance with HACCP and AIB standards.
• Participates in departmental plant meetings as needed.
• Works various shifts and hours, including holidays and weekends.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Vocational/Technical education preferred.
• 4-7 years of experience in a mechanic role, preferably in a food manufacturing facility.
• Electrical Work Certification preferred.
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems.
• Knowledge of pneumatic systems.
• Knowledge of fume/dust collectors.
