About the position

The Maintenance Mechanic at Trident Seafoods is responsible for repairing and maintaining various machinery and mechanical equipment within the Bellingham, WA plant. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of production processes by performing maintenance tasks on engines, motors, conveyor systems, and other equipment. The position requires a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and repairing mechanical issues, adhering to safety and environmental policies, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts, equipment, and machinery.
  • Tests and adjusts equipment to meet performance specifications.
  • Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, saws, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Sharpens and reshapes tools as necessary.
  • Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.
  • Repairs electrical equipment.
  • Follows plant food safety policies and industry best practices.
  • Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs.
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in Production Maintenance.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

  • One year certificate from college or technical school.
  • 5 years of experience in production maintenance.
  • Familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors and bagging machines.
