About the position
The Maintenance Mechanic position at Good Samaritan Society involves performing light maintenance repair and cleaning tasks in a safe and professional manner, particularly in patient/resident care areas. The role requires basic mechanical knowledge and competence in using hand tools and measuring devices, with responsibilities that may include installation and maintenance of mechanical systems, as well as general maintenance duties such as electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work.
Responsibilities
- Perform light maintenance repair and cleaning tasks in a safe and professional manner.
- Ensure tools are kept out of the reach of children in patient/resident care areas.
- Use hand tools, meters, measuring devices, and gauges competently.
- Work from blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals as needed.
- Explain conditions and situations accurately while troubleshooting.
- Comply with all corporate and facility policies and dress code.
- Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local codes, specifications, and ordinances.
- Perform installation and maintenance of mechanical and stationary systems, including boiler operations.
- Maintain campus grounds and perform outside maintenance duties as required.
- Perform general duties such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and bed repair and maintenance.
- Be available for on-call duties as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Trade school or vocational school preferred.
- Minimum of two years experience in building systems preferred.
- Valid driver's license and a good driving record may be required depending on location.
