About the position

The Maintenance Mechanic (HVAC) at Stratitia, Inc. is responsible for performing preventative and interim maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This role involves component repair and replacement, as well as assisting in depot-level maintenance. The mechanic will utilize their knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout to ensure the proper functioning of HVAC systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and interim level maintenance on HVAC systems.
• Repair and replace components as needed.
• Assist in depot-level maintenance tasks.
• Utilize knowledge of refrigeration theory and pipefitting.
• Mount compressor and condenser units according to blueprints or engineering specifications.
• Fabricate, assemble, and install ductwork and chassis parts using metalworking tools and welding equipment.
• Install evaporator units in chassis or air-duct systems.
• Cut and bend tubing to the correct length and shape using appropriate tools.
• Join tubing or pipes to refrigerating units using sleeves, couplings, or unions.
• Solder joints to form complete circuits for refrigerant.
• Install expansion and discharge valves in circuits.
• Connect motors, compressors, and controls to power sources.
• Install air and water filters in completed installations.
• Inject refrigerant into compressors to test systems and adjust for proper operation.
• Observe pressure and vacuum gauges and adjust controls as necessary.
• Test joints and connections for gas leaks and secure pipes with insulation.

Requirements

• Licensed Journeyman with 5 years of experience in HVAC maintenance.
• Expertise in basic welding, plumbing, or electrical work.
• Trained and qualified in CSC container certification.
• Air Conditioning Refrigeration (ACR) certification required.
