About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic I position at Deer Creek involves repairing, overhauling, maintaining, installing, and modifying equipment and facilities. Requirements

  • Advanced skills demonstrated by four years of journey-level work in plumbing, sheet metal, machinist, auto or welding skill sets, with heating/venting and air conditioning, and carpentry preferred.
  • Two years of trade school or apprenticeship training in an applicable skill set is preferred or an equivalent combination of classroom training and work experience.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow specifications on tech cards, work orders, repair manuals, blueprints, and drawings.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team effectively.
  • Ability to assist other departments through planning and technical assistance processes.
  • Valid driver's license required to drive PCC vehicles.
  • Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with hazardous materials handling.
  • Completion of PCC's Forklift Driving Safety Certification.
  • Completion of Hazardous Waste Management Training.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement preventive maintenance programs for equipment and facilities.
  • Repair, overhaul, maintain, install, and fabricate modifications to equipment and facilities as required.
  • Troubleshoot vacuum, hydraulic, pneumatic, induction heating, lubrication, abrasive, and pressure cleaning systems and their components.
  • Maintain machine tools and equipment used for maintenance.
  • Adhere to plant and department safety rules.
  • Safely operate all equipment and tools.
  • Identify and report safety problems, correcting when possible.
  • Complete logs and records.
  • Train less skilled personnel as assigned.
  • Participate in Hazardous Materials Spill Response team if required.
