The Maintenance Mechanic II position at Boys Town involves troubleshooting, adjusting, and performing complex repairs on various mechanical systems, including H.V.A.C. systems, plumbing, and electrical systems within the hospital and clinic buildings. This role is essential for ensuring the proper functioning of all mechanical equipment, which includes hot water heaters, pumps, chilled water systems, and steam systems. The position requires the use of both power and hand tools to make necessary adjustments and repairs, ensuring that all utilities to the buildings are maintained effectively. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. The responsibilities include reading meters, gauges, and printouts to record daily utility logs, as well as checking the building's condition by conducting walkthroughs of mechanical rooms. The Maintenance Mechanic II will also operate the building automation controls system to view and edit setpoints, which may include building, lighting, fire, and security systems. Providing safe electrical maintenance service throughout the complex is a critical function, which encompasses repairs to wiring, electrical fixtures, motors, controls, and other electrical systems. In addition to electrical maintenance, the role involves repairing and maintaining plumbing systems, including cleaning and repairing line plugs, breaks, and replacements. The incumbent will monitor and maintain the working condition of building hardware, such as doors, window latches, locks, and hinges, and will complete repairs on cabinets, countertops, and tables. A preventative maintenance program is also part of the job, requiring the maintenance of associated records and documentation of work completed. The Maintenance Mechanic II may also be involved in small project work to upgrade or change building systems as requested. The role may require the incumbent to be on-call for mechanical breakdowns or emergencies. The position requires knowledge of blueprints and the ability to detect hazards during the installation of equipment or systems, ensuring compliance with building codes and maximum efficiencies. The mechanic may also consult with outside contractors to oversee the successful completion of repairs and modifications.
