The Maintenance Mechanic II at Avery Point by Erickson Senior Living plays a crucial role in ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of residential apartments and public areas within the community. This position is part of the Maintenance & Engineering team, which is responsible for maintaining the physical condition of the assigned neighborhood. The Maintenance Mechanic II will perform both routine and emergency repairs, addressing a variety of issues including electrical malfunctions, plumbing repairs, and HVAC maintenance. The role requires a proactive approach to maintenance, adhering to company policies and following manufacturer recommendations for preventive maintenance procedures on designated equipment. In addition to performing repairs, the Maintenance Mechanic II will respond to emergency calls with urgency, providing detailed information about the tasks performed and any relevant equipment information. The position also involves assisting in maintaining proper levels of materials and supplies to ensure timely completion of tasks. Collaboration with other Maintenance & Engineering personnel may be necessary for various projects or repairs. The role may require a willingness to work scheduled and on-call overtime as needed, supporting the Supervisor and Facilities Maintenance Manager in ensuring efficient operations within the community. Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and emergency repairs in residential apartments and public areas.
  • Correct electrical malfunctions and repair plumbing fixtures, pipes, and fittings.
  • Repair and replace light bulbs and fixtures, doors, and locks.
  • Adhere to company policy by complying with scheduled preventive maintenance procedures on designated equipment.
  • Perform necessary maintenance of HVAC equipment as assigned.
  • Respond to emergency calls for system and equipment failure with urgency.
  • Provide detailed information regarding tasks performed and equipment information.
  • Assist in maintaining proper levels of material/supplies for the assigned neighborhood.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance & Engineering personnel on various projects or repairs.
  • Support the Supervisor and Facilities Maintenance Manager in ensuring effective operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3-5 years of maintenance experience in a residential apartment complex or commercial building.
  • Current EPA certification to handle refrigerants.
  • Working knowledge of residential building maintenance including plumbing, electrical, flooring, and appliances.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC systems.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds; over 50 pounds requires assistance or a hand truck.
  • Capacity to be on one's feet for long periods, bend, and walk extensively.
  • Ability to push, pull, and climb ladders up to 6/8 feet or higher.
