About the position

As a Maintenance Mechanic II at Greenspring Village by Erickson Senior Living, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the comfort and safety of our residents by maintaining the physical condition of the community. This position involves performing routine and emergency repairs in residential apartments and public areas, which includes addressing electrical malfunctions, plumbing issues, and HVAC maintenance. You will be part of the Maintenance & Engineering team, responsible for the upkeep of the neighborhood assigned to you. Your work will directly impact the quality of life for our residents, as you will be tasked with ensuring that all maintenance issues are resolved promptly and efficiently. In this role, you will adhere to company policies and comply with scheduled preventive maintenance procedures on designated equipment, following the manufacturer's recommendations. You will respond to emergency calls for system and equipment failures with urgency, providing detailed information about the tasks performed and any pertinent equipment information. Additionally, you will assist in maintaining proper levels of materials and supplies to ensure timely completion of necessary tasks. Collaboration with other Maintenance & Engineering personnel will be essential for the successful completion of various projects or repairs. The Maintenance Mechanic II position requires a willingness to work scheduled and on-call overtime as necessary. You will support the Supervisor of Facilities Maintenance and the Maintenance & Engineering Manager to ensure effective and efficient operations within the community. This role is vital in maintaining the high standards of service that Erickson Senior Living is known for, contributing to a positive living environment for our residents.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and emergency repairs in residential apartments and public areas.
  • Correct electrical malfunctions and repair/replacement of plumbing fixtures, pipes, and fittings.
  • Repair and replace light bulbs and fixtures, doors, and locks.
  • Adhere to company policy by complying with scheduled preventive maintenance procedures on designated equipment.
  • Perform necessary maintenance of HVAC equipment as assigned.
  • Respond to emergency calls for system and equipment failure with urgency.
  • Provide detailed information regarding tasks performed and pertinent equipment information.
  • Assist in maintaining proper levels of material/supplies for the assigned neighborhood.
  • Partner with Maintenance & Engineering personnel in the completion of various projects or repairs.
  • Support the Supervisor, Facilities Maintenance/Maintenance & Engineering Manager with other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 3-5 years of maintenance experience in a residential apartment complex, commercial building construction, or maintenance.
  • Current EPA certification to handle refrigerants.
  • Working knowledge of residential building maintenance including plumbing, electrical, flooring, and appliances.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC systems.
  • Capacity to lift 50 pounds; over 50 pounds requires assistance or a hand truck.
  • Ability to be on one's feet for long periods, bend, and walk extensively.
  • Ability to push and pull, climb and descend a ladder to 6/8 feet or higher.
