About the position

The Maintenance Mechanic II position at SSM Health Care involves performing preventive and corrective maintenance on various facilities, equipment, and associated systems. The role is crucial for ensuring the functionality and safety of systems such as fire systems, medical gas systems, and nurse call systems, among others. The mechanic will work closely with vendors and contractors, and will also engage in basic plumbing, electrical repairs, and minor construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Performs repairs according to work orders or verbal instructions and compiles proper documentation following established policies and procedures.
• Identifies and requests parts and components needed to complete tasks.
• Works with vendors, contractors, and factory representatives regarding the repair and replacement of equipment.
• Assists contractors and other personnel with connections and shut-offs for water and fire systems.
• Performs basic plumbing and electrical repairs and appliance repairs, including changing light bulbs and replacing ballasts.
• Performs carpentry and minor construction projects, including installation and repair of drywall, flooring, cabinetry, and painting.
• Assists in maintaining a clean and safe work environment, including debris removal and material storage.
• Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Two years' experience in maintenance or a related field.
