About the position

The Maintenance Mechanic II is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical systems and equipment in healthcare facilities. This role requires specialized knowledge in various systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, and involves complex assignments that may require cross-departmental collaboration. The position is based at Wamego Health Center in Manhattan, Kansas.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, maintains, and repairs equipment such as steam valves, steam traps, and water coils.
  • Services and repairs electric motors, heaters, coolers, and refrigerators using hand and power tools.
  • Maintains and repairs air compressors and air conditioning equipment.
  • Repairs appliances such as fans and washing machines, and may maintain motor vehicles.
  • Maintains central steam and chemical water treatment systems using diagnostic tools.
  • Fabricates, assembles, and tests parts for various mechanical systems using metal fabricating tools.
  • Safely operates electrical and air powered tools, and other mechanical tools.
  • Installs new or replacement equipment and materials in facilities.
  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs malfunctions in various systems and equipment.
  • Maintains shop master key boxes and operates key machines.

Requirements

  • Graduate of trade school and 2 years' related experience.
  • 4 years' related experience in maintenance or repair.
  • Other equivalent combination of relevant education or experience.
