About the position

The Maintenance Mechanic Jr. position involves performing various tasks related to the inspection, repair, maintenance, installation, and construction of plant equipment and structures. The role requires hands-on work with tools and machinery, as well as adherence to safety protocols and procedures. The position is essential for ensuring the operational efficiency and safety of the plant's equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, erect and/or remove scaffolding, rigging, and blocking.
  • Use tools to drill, tap holes, thread bolts, cut and thread pipe, and perform simple machining jobs.
  • Perform non-code electric arc welding and make tack and assembly welds.
  • Conduct metal cutting and simple welding and brazing.
  • Perform electrical work including pulling and terminating conductors and making repairs.
  • Install and repair masonry refractory and insulation.
  • Replace and adjust various mechanical devices and gauges.
  • Inspect, clean, repair, and reassemble various plant equipment.
  • Prepare surfaces for painting and perform minor carpentry and repairs.
  • Operate mobile equipment and maintain tools and work areas in order.
  • Follow company safety rules and participate in emergency training programs.
  • Perform similar or less skilled work as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in engineering, industrial or energy technology, or related field; or high school diploma with relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with plant maintenance, materials, practices, tools, rigging, scaffolding, and blocking.
  • Ability to perform work in all areas and heights required.
  • Knowledge of equipment layout, construction, and functions in the plant.
  • Familiarity with equipment clearance procedures and safety practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret simple prints and specifications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with mobile equipment operation.
  • Knowledge of advanced welding techniques.
  • Familiarity with electrical systems and troubleshooting.
