About the position

The Maintenance Mechanic - Skilled position at Covenant Living is a vital role responsible for ensuring the safety, well-being, and comfort of residents and employees by providing semi-skilled maintenance services. This includes maintaining the facility buildings, grounds, and equipment in good repair. The role requires a proactive approach to completing assigned work requests and preventative maintenance work orders as directed by the supervisor. The tasks may encompass a variety of maintenance areas including auto and small engine mechanics, carpentry, appliance repair, plumbing, electrical work, and more. The Maintenance Mechanic will also be responsible for inspecting facilities and systems to ensure safety and cleanliness, identifying necessary repairs, and troubleshooting issues as they arise. In addition to technical skills, the position demands physical stamina, as it involves prolonged standing, walking, bending, and lifting heavy objects. The ideal candidate will be comfortable using a variety of hand tools and small power tools, maintaining them in safe operating condition. The role also requires a basic understanding of building care and a commitment to being a good steward of the tools and property provided for completing work orders. A willingness to learn and expand trade knowledge is essential, as is the ability to work independently and manage time effectively to complete assignments within required timeframes. The Maintenance Mechanic will also be included in the on-call schedule, requiring flexibility and availability.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned work requests and preventative maintenance work orders as assigned by supervisor.
  • Inspect facilities, systems, and their components for safety and cleanliness, identifying necessary repairs.
  • Use a variety of hand tools and small power tools, maintaining them in safe operating condition.
  • Perform general labor and responsibility for event set-ups, deliveries, and moves.
  • Troubleshoot building and equipment issues as they arise.
  • Maintain inventory and part supplies for maintenance tasks.
  • Participate in the on-call schedule as required.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience required.
  • Valid Driver's License in the State and good driving record.
  • Ability to use computerized work order system.
  • Advanced skill in auto/small engine mechanics, carpentry, appliance repair, plumbing, electrical work, emergency generators, low voltage applications, swimming pools, fire alarms, valves, fixtures, and locks.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to lift 70 pounds and perform physical tasks requiring manual dexterity.
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written in English.
