About the position

The Maintenance Mechanic is primarily responsible for maintaining all building, utility, and production equipment. This role involves performing a wide range of tasks, from routine inspections and preventive maintenance to troubleshooting. The Maintenance Mechanic will ensure that all equipment is maintained in an orderly and efficient manner, performing necessary repairs as needed and conducting preventative maintenance scheduled services for all equipment. This includes entering data onto equipment records and monitoring the boiler system, which involves water chemical testing and the addition of chemical components. The position operates on a shift schedule from 6 PM to 6 AM, following a 2-2-3 schedule. Responsibilities

  • Maintain all building, utility, and production equipment in an orderly and efficient manner.
  • Perform necessary repairs to equipment and building as needed.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance scheduled services for all equipment and enter data onto equipment records.
  • Monitor the boiler system including water chemical testing and addition of chemical components.
  • Charge aged salt to the water softeners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • An associate degree or vocational certificate in a related field is preferred.
  • 1+ years experience in a pharmaceutical, food, or chemical manufacturing environment in a maintenance mechanic position is preferred.
  • Prior experience with a preventative maintenance program for production, utility, and building systems including keeping equipment records.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair pneumatic and electronic control systems and PLC based systems utilizing equipment schematics and specialized testing equipment.
  • Familiar with the use and operation of test equipment such as digital voltmeter, temperature probes, and pneumatic calibrators.
  • Knowledgeable with servicing and operating building utility equipment such as boilers, air compressors, chillers, etc.
  • Must have the ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Must be able to use various electrical testing equipment, such as ammeters, voltmeters, temperature probes, and pneumatic calibrators.
  • Must be familiar with and possess the ability to read, understand and use electrical drawings, system drawings, and panel layout sheets, as well as wiring diagrams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced troubleshooting techniques in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance in a manufacturing setting.
