About the position
The Maintenance Mechanic at KIK Consumer Products plays a crucial role in ensuring the operational efficiency of production equipment. This position involves troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on machinery, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet operational metrics. The role requires a proactive approach to maintenance and adherence to safety protocols, contributing to the overall success of the manufacturing process.
Responsibilities
- Set up production equipment to run scheduled production.
- Discuss difficulties in operating equipment with machine operators to isolate problems and troubleshoot machines to determine necessary repairs.
- Read and follow directions in technical manuals and document changes for future reference.
- Perform necessary repairs on equipment to maintain optimal running order.
- Conduct major mechanical overhauls of packaging equipment.
- Carry out required preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Assist in determining required design modifications and implement approved changes to equipment.
- Perform tasks in accordance with approved procedures and safety protocols, providing coverage for mechanics on other shifts as needed.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of mechanical experience in a high-speed packaging and/or manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Good knowledge of preventative maintenance programs.
- Flexibility to work shift work (days, afternoons, nights).
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes.
- Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety and Lockout Procedures.
- Working knowledge of computerized maintenance management software is an asset.
- Attention to detail with a customer service attitude.
- Strong team player with excellent problem-solving skills.
