About the position

The Maintenance Mechanic position at the Florida Department of Military Affairs involves performing a variety of skilled maintenance and repair tasks across multiple systems including electrical, plumbing, heating, and structural systems. The role is essential for ensuring the functionality and safety of facilities and equipment, contributing to the overall mission of supporting national security objectives and public safety.

Responsibilities

• Alter, repair, and renovate buildings, garages, and storage areas.
• Install and repair drywall, including taping, mudding, and sanding.
• Operate, maintain, and repair air handling units, cooling equipment, and generators.
• Service and repair plumbing and heating systems, including faucets and toilets.
• Conduct periodic inspections of plumbing, heating, and electrical systems.
• Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on State vehicles.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of professional experience in electrical, plumbing, heating, air-conditioning systems, or structural and architectural systems.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
• Manual dexterity with hands and fingers.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of safety procedures in maintenance and repair work.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Skill in using tools and equipment for maintenance and repair.
