About the position

Complete Building Services (CBS) is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support a large government facility in Washington, DC. The role involves performing general maintenance and repairs on equipment and buildings, requiring skills in various trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. The position requires flexibility to provide coverage Monday through Friday between 6 am and 7 pm.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings.
• Replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
• Patch minor holes and cracks in walls or ceilings using plaster or compound.
• Repair or replace sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
• Paint structures and equipment.
• Repair or replace concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.
• Replace damaged paneling and floor tiles.
• Hang doors and install door locks.
• Replace broken window panes.
• Perform general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Three (3) years of experience within the past five (5) years as a Maintenance Mechanic in a building of similar size (1,000,000+ sq. ft.).
• Completed vocational and technical training in HVAC Mechanic maintenance and service work.
• CFC/EPA certification required.
• Ability to identify common causes of building system failures.
• Ability to conduct routine testing procedures.
• Meet project assignments on time.
• Ability to work on several assignments simultaneously and prioritize work.
