About the position

The Maintenance Mechanic position at General Mills in Milwaukee, WI, is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of industrial processing and packaging machinery. Responsibilities

  • Installing, maintaining, repairing, and replacing industrial processing and packaging machinery, work tools, and equipment.
  • Identifying and troubleshooting mechanical issues.
  • Providing technical support and plant leadership for equipment troubleshooting and modifications.
  • Performing welding and fabrication activities.
  • Repairing and maintaining building utilities, including plumbing fixtures and hydraulic systems.
  • Installing and maintaining electrical systems, including conduits and components.
  • Installing or replacing electronic equipment and systems.
  • Participating in Root Cause Analysis to identify issues.
  • Performing preventative maintenance during both uptime and downtime.
  • Participating in Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance platform performance.
  • Assisting in training new employees.
  • Performing other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance or equivalent education in a related field.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, HVAC systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Machinist and/or metal fabrication experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing/production environment preferred.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word, and Maximo (CMMS).
  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot basic electrical circuits.
