Leggett & Platt is seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to join our Cape Girardeau, Missouri branch. This position is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of our plant machinery and equipment. The Maintenance Mechanic will work a set 8-hour shift from Monday to Friday, focusing on troubleshooting, installing, maintaining, and repairing various types of industrial machinery and physical structures within the facility. The ideal candidate will possess a strong electrical background and/or training as an electrician, which is essential for the role. In this position, the Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for a variety of tasks including repairing industrial equipment, replacing glands and seals in pumping equipment, and analyzing equipment and machinery malfunctions. The mechanic will determine the appropriate procedures for repairs and perform them efficiently. Additionally, the role involves installing and maintaining machinery, troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems, and performing preventative maintenance functions to ensure optimal performance of all equipment. The mechanic will also be involved in plant start-up and shut-down procedures, which are critical for maintaining operational efficiency. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and at least five years of experience in industrial maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with 480/three-phase electrical systems is required, while experience with electrical systems is preferred. Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical drawings, as well as the installation and maintenance of electronic devices such as flow meters, encoders, servo motors, and sensors, is also advantageous. The ability to interpret architectural and mechanical prints and drawings will be beneficial in this role.
