About the position

The Maintenance Mechanic position is located in the Non-Acute IL Central Chicagoland North Suburb clinics, requiring daily movement from site to site. This is a full-time role focused on maintaining a safe and efficient environment through various maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provides timely and proper response to assigned service calls, work orders and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Performs a variety of general maintenance building repairs including adjusting or replacing doors, caulking, insulating, painting, and replacing floor coverings.
• Conducts maintenance electrical repairs such as replacing outlets, light bulbs, and resetting circuit breakers.
• Handles maintenance plumbing repairs including replacing sinks, unclogging toilets, and repairing lawn irrigation.
• Performs minor equipment repairs on hospital beds, wheelchairs, and kitchen equipment.
• Maintains heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment, responding to heating and cooling requests.
• First response and system reset of fire alarm systems and pneumatic tube systems.
• Establishes and improves the preventive maintenance and inspection program for assigned areas and equipment.
• Responds to alarms in a timely manner and optimizes operation using trending reports.
• Conducts emergency repairs associated with leaks, floods, and other utility disruptions.
• Responds to building occupant requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Inspects assigned building spaces to identify and correct maintenance deficiencies.
• Documents actions taken in the computerized maintenance management system.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3 years of general experience.
• 2+ years of maintenance or construction experience in a healthcare, hotel, institutional, or manufacturing facility.
• Basic knowledge of general maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, electrical maintenance, and snow removal.
• Valid State of Illinois Drivers License.
