About the position

The Maintenance Mechanical Associate at International Paper's Bogalusa Paper Mill is responsible for assisting journeyman-level mechanics in routine maintenance tasks while also performing various duties independently. This role involves hands-on work in maintaining and repairing mechanical systems, ensuring the efficient operation of the mill's machinery.

Responsibilities

• Assist journeyman-level mechanics in routine maintenance work.
• Replace valves and gaskets as needed.
• Perform basic welding tasks.
• Repack pumps and valves.
• Operate forklifts for material handling.
• Install screwed pipes and tubing.
• Repair cylinders and pumps.
• Replace and repair rotating assemblies and rolls.
• Replace motors and repair mechanical drive systems.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Eligible for employment in the US.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year of experience or vocational/technical education in Maintenance Skill Areas such as Millwright, Machinist, Lubrication, Welding, Automotive Maintenance, or Pipefitting.
• Must undergo a drug screen and submit to periodic drug screens as a condition of employment.
• Ability to work any shift and/or a rotating shift schedule.
• Willingness to work overtime and on holidays or weekends as needed.
• Must wear required safety equipment and operate in industrial conditions.

Nice-to-haves

• Associate degree in IP Core Maintenance skills or related disciplines.
• Relevant work experience in an industrial environment.
• Strong understanding of math and physics.
• Background in Millwright or Machinist roles.
