About the position

The Maintenance & Mechanical Specialist at Oakland Children's Fairyland is responsible for ensuring the safety and functionality of park attractions through general maintenance and repairs. This role requires a skilled individual with a diverse set of mechanical skills, including carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work, to maintain and repair the park's motorized and mechanical assets. The position involves collaboration with the Facilities Manager and other staff to uphold the park's operational standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repairs throughout the park.
• Maintain and repair Fairyland's motorized and mechanical assets.
• Collaborate with Maintenance and Custodial staff and Department Directors as needed.
• Ensure safety and functionality of park attractions.
• Respond to maintenance challenges with a proactive approach.

Requirements

• Three to five years of experience in a maintenance position or equivalent education and training.
• Strong mechanical skills with a solid understanding of gears, motors, electrical systems, bearings, and pulley/chain assemblies.
• Valid California Driver's License with an insurable driving record.
• Clear background history with no barriers to working with children.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in welding, fiberglass construction, outdoor set and stage design, or animatronic maintenance.
