About the position

The Maintenance Mechanic position at Camden County Technical Schools is a full-time role located at the Gloucester Township Campus. The primary goal of this position is to provide students and staff with a safe, attractive, clean, comfortable, and efficiently operated environment in which to learn and develop. The role involves a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure the facilities are in good working order.

Responsibilities

• Performs walk-through inspections of all facilities to locate damage and required repairs.
• Inspects buildings and grounds for wear, damage, required service, and fire or safety hazards.
• Performs plumbing repairs and new installations such as replacing washers, faucets, sinks, toilets, clearing drains, caulking fixtures, repairing flush valves, installing PVC, copper and steel piping.
• Performs electrical repairs and new installations such as changing ballasts, and replacing and installing receptacles, switches, running wires.
• Performs repairs to walls, floors, ceilings, doors, windows, roofs, air handling units as needed on campus.
• Performs general carpentry and masonry repairs and installations.
• Performs snow removal and salting tasks.
• Performs preventive maintenance tasks including cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting on a scheduled basis.
• Maintains required documentation on work order system of service or tasks performed.
• Observes applicable safety rules, practices and regulations.
• Monitors maintenance work performed by contractors/vendors as directed by the Chief Buildings and Grounds Officer and advises of unusual conditions or problems.
• Performs other duties such as moving, delivering, and assembling furniture and equipment.
• Assists in maintaining the inventory of district-owned equipment, material and supplies.
• Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Buildings and Grounds Officer or designee.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Blue Seal and/or Black Seal License preferred (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Physical strength, dexterity, and ability to do manual work.
• Experience and background in Plumbing/HVAC/R preferred.
• Valid New Jersey Driver's License.
• Successfully undergo a criminal history check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
• Meets the health qualifications required of all personnel.
• Meets NJ residency requirements or willingness to relocate to NJ within 365 days of employment.
• Must follow the guidelines of the Camden County Technical Schools' Nepotism Policy.
