About the position

The Operations Management Trainee at Ryder is a pivotal role designed to support the shop management process while focusing on cost savings, customer retention, and metric-based initiatives. This fast-paced program allows trainees to work cross-functionally across various departments, gaining essential industry knowledge and skills to develop their operations and fleet maintenance expertise. The position offers a clear path for career progression, with the potential to advance to an Operations Supervisor role.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for customer relationship activities, ensuring quality customer interface and satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with the rental department to maximize utilization without compromising lease customers.
  • Partner with Sales staff on customer calls to enhance customer satisfaction and drive new business.
  • Manage running costs and maintenance overheads effectively.
  • Ensure adherence to policies and processes to optimize costs and maintenance overhead.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance, Asset Management, Sales, and Marketing to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee accurate PM scheduling, breakdowns, and vehicle status updates; manage Technician work planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • One (1) year or more of customer service experience with issue resolution preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent follow-up practices.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and highly organized with excellent time management skills.
  • Strong mechanical skills and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create and maintain professional relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Strong PC knowledge, including advanced spreadsheet and word processing skills.
  • Basic understanding of Business Finance, controls, and metrics.
