About the position

The Maintenance Operations Specialist at Wabtec Corporation is responsible for providing frontline leadership to a team of maintenance technicians. This role focuses on problem-solving, driving process adherence, and executing operational objectives. The specialist will manage day-to-day activities, including timekeeping and discipline, while ensuring the maintenance team meets production schedules and quality initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance and leadership to the Maintenance team, including troubleshooting and repair of equipment.
  • Train and develop technical skills of maintenance employees and educate them on business strategy and metrics.
  • Participate in Environment, Health and Safety initiatives and corrective actions.
  • Manage maintenance work using CMMS, source and purchase maintenance parts and services, and support the operation of the Maintenance storeroom.
  • Support and meet maintenance and production schedules, driving productivity and quality initiatives while managing the area within budget.
  • Interface with internal and external customers to define priorities for shifts and work groups.
  • Manage employees' schedule requirements, including timekeeping, overtime, time off, and discipline.
  • Communicate and enforce safety policies and other plant policies.
  • Participate on cross-functional teams and demonstrate leadership and coaching skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college OR a High School Diploma / GED with at least 4 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing or 3 years military experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams.
  • Ability to lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact.
  • Ability to coordinate one to two projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem identification and solution skills.
  • Proven analytical and quality/process improvement skills.
