About the position

The Maintenance Operations Tech position within the Department of Public Works Operations is responsible for performing general maintenance tasks related to municipal streets and parks. This role involves operating various equipment and machinery to ensure the upkeep and safety of public infrastructure, including snow removal, grass mowing, and minor repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Plows snow and mows grass using appropriate equipment.
  • Performs maintenance duties for municipal streets and parks infrastructure.
  • Assists workers of other crews in their duties as needed.
  • Conducts minor concrete work and performs chuckhole patching.
  • Removes debris and patches sidewalks and curbs.
  • Ensures temporary traffic controls are in place at work sites.
  • Trims tree limbs to prevent obstruction of signs.
  • Keeps daily records and logs of work completed and supplies used.
  • Observes and follows all safety regulations during work activities.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • One (1) year of experience in a related field preferred.
  • Ability to perform manual labor tasks, including lifting and carrying objects weighing 25 pounds or more.
  • Experience in operating equipment and machinery associated with maintenance tasks, including aerial lift trucks and various hand tools.
  • Valid Class B CDL Driver's License required; Class A preferred.
