About the position
The Maintenance Operator I - Parks & Grounds is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the City's parks, recreational areas, and other outdoor spaces. This role involves performing a variety of tasks to ensure these areas are clean, safe, and visually appealing. The operator will work as part of a team and follow established procedures to maintain the overall quality of the outdoor environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual laboring tasks related to the maintenance of grounds and parks.
- Operate equipment such as pickup trucks, dump trucks, mowers, tractors, and other lawn equipment.
- Plant, trim, or remove trees and vegetation within right-of-ways.
- Perform routine maintenance of all assigned equipment.
- Maintain written logs of work accomplished and interact with citizens regarding work being performed.
Requirements
- Possession of a valid Florida driver's license with a good driving record.
- One year of experience in the operation and maintenance of small tools and/or vehicles used in grounds maintenance.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of traffic and highway safety rules.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
