About the position
Alliant Energy is seeking an experienced Maintenance Operator Technician - Electrician to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of facilities at the Prairie Du Sac Generating Station. This role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical equipment, performing varied maintenance and construction duties, and ensuring the operational integrity of hydro plants. The position operates on a four-day work week, with 10-hour shifts.
Responsibilities
- Perform electrical and basic instrument and control troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs of equipment and systems for the generation facility.
- Maintain, install, and direct maintenance of electrical equipment at Prairie du Sac or Kilbourn generating station and high voltage substation.
- Maintain and calibrate basic plant control systems and assist with required testing of equipment and systems.
- Maintain dams, gates, locks, turbine-generators, and auxiliary equipment, including major and minor electrical and mechanical overhaul work.
- Perform operating duties at generating stations, including operation of switchboards, turbine-generators, and auxiliary systems.
- Inspect plant and equipment as required.
- Perform various non-structural welding tasks.
- Conduct housekeeping functions in generating plant and shop areas.
- Operate and obtain information from mechanical and electrical devices for diagnostics or work activities.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required.
- 4 years of experience in the electrical trade or completed apprenticeship.
Nice-to-haves
- 2 years' experience in hydro operations and/or hydro plant maintenance.
