About the position

The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler is responsible for maintaining and repairing production machinery and equipment, as well as plant utilities. This role involves creating maintenance schedules, implementing preventive maintenance plans, managing inventory, and ensuring effective communication between the maintenance department and operations. The position requires a combination of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and welding skills to ensure the smooth operation of the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage maintenance schedules, generating work orders for scheduled tasks and ensuring timely execution.
  • Prepare and implement preventive maintenance plans aligned with the organization's maintenance goals.
  • Maintain parts inventory to ensure availability of necessary components for maintenance tasks.
  • Develop and update procedural manuals that clearly explain how to perform specific maintenance tasks.
  • Estimate costs of labor and parts for industrial equipment repairs and maintenance.
  • Adjust maintenance schedules to accommodate unexpected emergency work as needed.
  • Assist and support the maintenance manager in daily operations and strategic planning.
  • Serve as a liaison between the maintenance department and operations, facilitating clear communication and collaboration.
  • Maintain accurate records and files essential to effective maintenance management.
  • Coordinate efforts between maintenance staff, contractors, and external vendors to ensure smooth operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or vocational school training.
  • Minimum two years of mechanical or electrical maintenance work experience.
  • Basic experience with Microsoft Office applications and use of intranet and internet.
  • Moderate mechanical aptitude and knowledge of basic fundamentals of maintenance.
  • Developed troubleshooting skills to determine causes of operating errors and resolve problems.
  • Working knowledge of safety codes and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high attention to detail and good follow-up skills.
  • Ability to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as chemical labels, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • High degree of initiative and independent judgment.
  • Ability to express self effectively and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to tactfully and effectively deal with public and staff in a personable and professional manner.
  • Maintains a high level of energy and a consistent positive attitude.
