About the position

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for overseeing maintenance and engineering support functions within a plant environment. This role includes managing plant betterment projects, providing technical support for process improvements, and ensuring the effective use of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). The Maintenance Planner also takes charge of maintenance personnel in the absence of the Maintenance Manager and coordinates with corporate engineering to enhance plant operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and evaluate plant specific functions related to predictive and preventative maintenance, availability improvements, and the cost of production.
  • Coordinate and conduct performance, functional, and surveillance testing of plant systems and components.
  • Utilize tools and analysis techniques to identify developing equipment issues that might cause future forced outages.
  • Provide assistance in the development of preventative maintenance and scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Plan outages for all disciplines both mechanical and electrical as well as long term planning.
  • Evaluate equipment failures and assist with Root Cause Analysis to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager to track facility service hours and update Major Maintenance Inspection schedules.
  • Direct the activities of personnel assigned to the Maintenance Department in the absence of the Maintenance Manager.
  • Assist in developing annual maintenance budgets.
  • Manage the site CMMS to schedule work, prioritize work orders, maintain inventory, and procure parts and materials.
  • Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities for the maintenance team.
  • Assist in the investigation of plant problems, incidents, accidents, and unusual events.
  • Conduct inspections of boilers, pressure vessels, turbine, generator, and auxiliary equipment during outages.
  • Provide technical support in preparation of specifications and monitoring contractor work.
  • Manage requests for proposals, evaluate bids, and participate in awarding contracts.
  • Manage and update work packages and database.
  • Manage and maintain equipment reports and database.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 10+ years of power plant or similar experience required.
  • At least 5 years' experience supervising technical, supervisory and administrative personnel required.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills required.
  • Strong time management skills for self-directed deadlines.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Work experience with Maximo, PeopleSoft (Advanced User level preferred or ability to learn).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Past experience working in a team environment.
