About the position

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for improving workforce productivity and work quality by planning and scheduling all maintenance work performed in the plant. This role acts as the main liaison between the maintenance department and other plant departments, ensuring efficient and quality service. The planner will develop work plans, maintain equipment records, and monitor the effectiveness of the preventive maintenance program to minimize plant breakdowns.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule all maintenance work performed in the plant.
  • Maintain liaison and coordination between operations and maintenance organizations.
  • Act as the main contact between the maintenance department and other plant departments.
  • Ensure prompt and quality service from the maintenance department.
  • Plan future maintenance work to reduce potential delays and maximize efficiency.
  • Report food safety or quality issues to management or QA.
  • Maintain close contact with the Maintenance Manager to minimize disruption to production operations.
  • Review and screen work orders for accuracy and necessity.
  • Develop work plans based on requests and inspections, indicating scope and resources required.
  • Identify and obtain materials for work orders.
  • Maintain backlog files of work orders waiting for scheduling.
  • Verify availability of parts and tools before scheduling work.
  • Follow up on completed schedules and work orders.
  • Coordinate weekly scheduling of maintenance plans.
  • Develop standard work order plans for recurring repair jobs.
  • Order parts as needed.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the PM program to minimize breakdowns.
  • Estimate jobs, showing sequence of steps and required labor hours.
  • Document work order job steps with resources and tools required.
  • Own and maintain the CMMS system at the facility.
  • Facilitate maintenance productivity through clear job plan development.
  • Identify and implement improvements in the planning process to reduce costs.
  • Delegate maintenance shift scheduling and backlog management.
  • Schedule full days of work for technicians to maximize labor usage.
  • Maintain equipment records in CMMS.
  • Set up and maintain predictive and preventative maintenance plans in CMMS.
  • Monitor and report on PM work completion to maintain reliability.
  • Plan and schedule corrective work to maximize crew utilization.
  • Review work requests and create work orders in collaboration with requestors.
  • Prepare job plans and work order packets for mechanics.
  • Coordinate with production and sanitation to plan weekend work.

Requirements

  • Hands-on maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of SQF, GMP's, SOP's, HACCP, and food process sanitation requirements.
  • Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to maintain exacting standards and tolerance.
