About the position

The Construction Field Engineer at Nalco Water, an Ecolab Company, is responsible for coordinating Capital Project field execution and daily maintenance planning at a manufacturing plant site. This role involves creating and maintaining work execution schedules, organizing shareholder meetings, and ensuring that all capital projects and maintenance activities are completed on time and within budget. The position requires collaboration with various departments, particularly Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering, to ensure effective project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain work execution schedules for capital projects and daily maintenance activities.
  • Organize and participate in shareholder meetings to discuss project progress.
  • Coordinate with project engineers, maintenance supervisors, and contractor leads to develop action plans for resources and timeframes.
  • Participate in project design meetings and propose improvements as necessary.
  • Plan and manage project schedules and incorporate new information.
  • Supervise current projects and coordinate contractor team members to maintain workflow.
  • Manage project-related paperwork, ensuring all materials are current and properly filed.
  • Prepare and review project correspondences, including proposals, memos, and meeting minutes.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to identify and define project requirements, scope, and objectives.
  • Oversee various stages of projects, ensuring tasks are completed as planned.
  • Manage maintenance-driven programs and repairs/restoration work.
  • Conduct API inspections as part of the Maintenance MI program and project schedule.
  • Assist in plant outages/turnarounds and develop overall schedules.
  • Interpret drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision.
  • Supervise field operations, ensuring adherence to permits and safety standards.
  • Maintain project recordkeeping and correspondence functions, including daily reports and RFIs.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a construction-related position.
  • 2+ years of related professional experience in the construction field at a chemical manufacturing plant or refinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, including P&IDs.
  • Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel; Microsoft Projects is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work outside in a chemical plant consistently day-to-day.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SAP, Microsoft Projects, and AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Ability to red-line P&IDs is a plus.
